Job Description
Catastrophe claims arise from hurricanes, wildfires, earthquakes, and other natural or man-made disasters and may involve auto, commercial, flood, and property losses. The National Catastrophe Team (NCT) Oversight Technical Reviewer provides claims guidance, quality assurance, training, and operational oversight through focused audits, claim analysis, and technical support to Field Claims operations. This role monitors claims handled by NCT staff and contingent workers throughout the claim lifecycle, providing direction on investigations, coverage, liability, damages, and claim valuation. The reviewer also exercises settlement and denial authority on moderate-severity losses that exceed adjuster or contingent worker authority.
Schedule, Travel & Hiring Locations
- Work Schedule: 10 days on / 4 days off, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (Schedule B or C, Monday – Wednesday)
- Location: Remote
- Travel: 10–25% annually, based on operational needs and CAT events
- Not Eligible for Residents of: California, Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, or Puerto Rico
What You’ll Do
- Serve as a resource to management on complex coverage issues and high-severity claims.
- Authorize damage estimates and claim payments for moderately complex losses.
- Provide vendor oversight and NCT Staff Oversight.
- Support coverage investigations, supplement triage, subrogation investigations, Public Adjuster claims, ALE handling, asbestos abatement, Outside Adjuster ladder assists, and contents inventory and pricing.
- Review statistical and performance reports to assess claim outcomes, processes, and procedures, and communicate findings.
- Conduct claims performance, quality, and audit reviews.
- Document claim files with clear notes, evaluations, and decision rationale.
- Summarize documentation and enter information into claim system notes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three or more years of direct property adjusting experience.
- Property estimating experience, including estimate writing.
- Experience using estimating tools (e.g., Xactimate).
- Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- High attention to detail with strong time management and analytical skills.
- Candidates located within the Pacific or Mountain Time Zones are preferred.
Notice of Licensing Requirement
- As a condition of employment, your office/area may require you to obtain an adjuster and/or an appraiser license which includes passing an additional background check with the Department of Labor. If applicable, you will be required to secure license(s) within 60 days of hire.
- As a requirement of employment, individuals who currently hold an active insurance license must terminate all existing appointments prior to onboarding and must not hold any outside appointments at any point during employment. Applicants seeking an adjuster role who also hold a resident producer license must formally surrender that license when instructed to by the licensing team. Compensation
Compensation for this role ranges from $68,200-$130,200 annually and is based on experience, qualifications, location, and internal equity.
