• The Regional Operations Accountant is responsible for providing financial insight, analysis, control and support to the
• Regional Operations team to enable effective financial and operational decision-making. The role partners closely with
• Regional Managers, Store Managers and Finance stakeholders to monitor performance, identify risks and
• opportunities, improve cost management, strengthen financial controls and support regional business objectives

Qualifications

BCom Accounting, Management Accounting, Financial Accounting or equivalent. • Professional accounting qualification or relevant postgraduate qualification will be advantageous.

Experience

• 3–5 years' experience in accounting, management accounting, financial analysis or financial business partnering.
• Experience in retail, FMCG, wholesale or a multi-site operational environment will be advantageous.
• Experience analysing financial and operational performance across multiple sites or stores.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and management reporting.
• Experience working with operational stakeholders and providing financial advice.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

• Prepare, review and analyse regional financial reports and management accounts.
• Ensure accurate and timely accounting records and financial information.
• Perform monthly reconciliations, investigate variances and resolve discrepancies.
• Monitor regional income, expenditure, costs and financial performance against budgets.
• Provide financial information and insights to Regional and Store Management.
• Support month-end, year-end and financial reporting processes.
• Ensure appropriate accounting procedures and controls are consistently applied.

Budgeting & Financial Planning

• Support the preparation of regional budgets, forecasts and financial plans.
• Monitor actual performance against budget and identify significant variances.
• Provide variance analysis and recommend corrective actions where required.
• Assist operational management in identifying opportunities to improve profitability and cost efficiency.

Financial Controls & Governance

• Maintain effective financial controls across the assigned region.
• Identify financial risks, control weaknesses and potential areas of loss.
• Ensure compliance with company financial policies, procedures and delegated authority.
• Monitor adherence to cash handling, stock, expenditure and other relevant financial controls.
• Support internal and external audit processes and ensure audit findings are appropriately addressed.

Store & Operational Support

• Partner with Regional Managers, Store Managers and operational teams on financial matters.
• Provide financial guidance and interpretation of financial results to operational stakeholders.
• Identify trends and financial risks that may impact store and regional performance.
• Support initiatives aimed at reducing costs, improving profitability and minimising financial losses.
• Conduct financial reviews and provide recommendations to improve operational performance.

Analysis & Decision Support

• Analyse financial and operational data to identify trends, opportunities and risks.
• Prepare meaningful financial insights and reports for management.
• Investigate unusual transactions, variances and financial trends.
• Support business cases and financial evaluations for operational initiatives where required.

Compliance & Risk Management

• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, legislation and company policies.
• Maintain accurate supporting documentation and audit trails.
• Assist in identifying and mitigating financial and operational risks.
• Escalate material financial irregularities and control concerns appropriately.
