Engineering Intern (Fall 2026)
forus · New York, United States
About The Role
ABOUT US
Forus is building an AI-powered network that connects doctors, pharmacies, payers, and biopharma to accelerate new science to patients.
Our platform automates the complexity between a doctor prescribing a medicine and a patient starting treatment, including insurance coverage, financial assistance, and supply chain navigation. We provide this support free to doctors and patients, helping them get life-changing medicine faster, cheaper, and easier. The resulting network enables biopharma companies to design better research, launch new drugs more effectively, and invest in harder-to-treat conditions.
Forus has exceptional product-market fit and is growing rapidly through organic adoption
- Accelerating scale: We already support patients across more than 80% of ZIP codes and partner with 5 of the 10 largest biopharma companies in the world.
- AI-native, durable model: Our business becomes stronger as AI improves, as every new doctor, patient, and partner makes the network more valuable.
- Backing to build for the long term: We raised $160M+ from leading investors to build an exceptional team and unlock the full scale of the opportunity.
Our number one priority is scaling to market demand. We are looking for individuals who are high horsepower, high throughput, and hyper resourceful to help us increase capacity and grow. We move fast and need to move faster.
If we succeed, science will be the only limit to medicine.
All full-time roles are in person in New York.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Software Engineering Intern at Forus, you will join our engineering team as an engineer, not as an observer. From your first weeks, you’ll ship production code, own meaningful technical problems, and build software that helps providers, patients, and life sciences organizations bring innovative therapies to more patients.
Unlike a traditional internship, you’ll work on the same systems as our full-time engineers and contribute to the same codebase, engineering reviews, and technical discussions. You’ll work directly with experienced engineers, the head of engineering, and the CEO on some of the company’s highest-priority technical challenges, whether that’s provider-facing products, AI systems, life sciences platforms, growth acceleration, or infrastructure. This isn’t an internship spent building internal demos or isolated side projects. You will help build the platform that sits between scientific innovation and patient treatment, working on the products and AI systems that providers and biopharma depend on every day.
We invest in exceptional interns differently than most companies. Many stay with us across multiple semesters, take on increasing ownership as they grow, and some receive return offers and start vesting equity before they graduate. We think the best engineers should start building their careers early, and we’re looking for people we hope will help define Forus for years to come.
This is a demanding role, with a high level of autonomy and responsibility. You will be expected to “act like an owner” and commit yourself to Forus’ success. If you are low-ego, hungry to learn, and excited about intense, impactful work that drives both company growth and accelerated career progression, we want to hear from you.
IF YOU JOIN, YOU WILL
- Own meaningful technical problems from an ambiguous idea through design, implementation, and production
- Ship production code that directly impacts providers, patients, and life sciences partners.
- Help decide what to build, not just how to build it, by working closely with users and developing your own product intuition
- Build product features, AI-powered systems, life sciences products, internal tools, or engineering infrastructure, depending on where you can have the greatest impact
- Work directly with engineering, product, design, operations, and company leadership while learning how a world-class engineering organization operates and scales
- Be treated and measured like a full engineer, with the ownership, code review, and quality bar to match
WE’LL BE MOST EXCITED IF YOU HAVE
- Strong computer science fundamentals and programming ability, currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
- A track record of building things outside the classroom, whether through internships, research, startups, hackathons, open-source contributions, or side projects
- Strong product instincts. You form opinions about what is worth building and can distinguish what is valuable from what is merely possible
- The ability and willingness to work wherever the problem is, whether frontend, backend, infrastructure, AI, or something entirely new
- A track record of moving quickly, finding shortcuts, and going to unreasonable lengths to deliver on goals
- High NPS with your former teammates and classmates
This is a list of ideal qualifications for this position. If you don't meet every single one of them, you should still consider applying! We’re excited to work with people from underrepresented backgrounds, and we encourage people from all backgrounds to apply.
