About The Role

Canea Shipping & Trading, an affiliate company of Seaborne Shipbrokers S.A., is a newly established shipping company focused on the safe, reliable, and efficient management of its fleet. As the company grows and develops its operations, we are building a strong and experienced team with a hands-on approach, high standards of operational excellence, and a strong sense of ownership and accountability.

We are looking for an experienced Accountant to join our team in Athens. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations of Canea Shipping & Trading, ensuring accurate and timely financial records and supporting the company’s financial reporting and closing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily bookkeeping and accounting entries
  • Prepare and process payments, bank transfers and bank reconciliations
  • Monitor revenues, expenses, outstanding invoices, petty cash and corporate credit cards
  • Review and process travel and employee expenses
  • Prepare and review invoices and supporting accounting documentation
  • Support monthly and annual closing procedures
  • Prepare accounting analyses, reconciliations and supporting schedules for reporting purposes
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, banks and other external partners as required
  • Support VAT, tax, audit and other statutory reporting requirements
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and financial documentation
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of accounting procedures and internal controls
  • Assist with ad hoc accounting and financial matters as required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant accounting experience, within the Shipping industry
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, bookkeeping, reconciliations and closing procedures
  • Experience with payments, banking transactions and audit support
  • Very good command of English, both written and spoken
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel; familiarity with shipping accounting/ERP systems will be considered an asset
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Hands-on approach, ownership mindset and ability to manage multiple priorities with professionalism and confidentiality
