About The Role

An opportunity for aspiring and existing journalists to join the Sky Sports Digital team on a permanent basis, located predominantly from our Osterley campus.

The role of Digital Sports Journalist is to write and co-ordinate digital editorial content across the Sky Sports website and app.

Reporting to an Output Editor, this is a key role that will ensure Sky Sports remains the destination of choice for sports fans, creates revenue opportunities and continues to add value to the Sky Sports subscription.

What you'll do

  • You will write articles for the Sky Sports website and app with a remit to cover a broad range of sports.
  • You will write vibrant digital sports content of the highest standard, focusing on all of Sky’s core sports excluding football. This includes cricket, boxing, NFL, rugby league, rugby union, darts, tennis, golf, Formula 1, NBA and netball.
  • Your content must be delivered to deadline and includes live-blogging, reporting, feature-writing and breaking news coverage.
  • You will ghost-write for Sky Sports talent and maximise Sky Sports’ linear output online.
  • You will collaborate with multiple areas of Sky Sports (e.g. Sky Sports News, Sports Content teams) to ensure we are producing aligned and consistent content – including video and audio.
  • You will conform to the highest standard of digital writing by ensuring that relevant guidelines (including brand guidelines), processes and policies for digital content are fully adhered to.
  • You will strive to ensure Sky Sports remains the destination of choice for sports fans, creates revenue opportunities and continues to add value to the Sky Sports subscription.
  • You will have experience writing at a national or international level, ideally for a digital publisher.

What you'll bring

  • Professional sports journalism experience in the digital sphere.
  • Experience of working in a quick-paced work environment with tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a flair for producing different types of copy.
  • Demonstrable passion for and knowledge of sport .
  • A strong work ethic and proactive attitude, with the ability to work in a team and support all aspects of the business when necessary.
  • NCTJ qualified or equivalent, with a working knowledge of media law.

How you'll work

We've adopted a hybrid working approach to give more flexibility on where and how we work. The hybrid working expectations for this role are 3 days in the office per week.

Your office base

Osterley

Our Osterley Campus is a 10-minute walk from Syon Lane train station. Or you can hop on one of our free shuttle buses that run to and from Osterley, Gunnersbury, Ealing Broadway and South Ealing tube stations. There’s also plenty of bike shelters and showers.
