Job Details

This is a general Roadworker role within the Roads and Transportation Service, supporting the delivery of road and footway maintenance and construction activities across Fife. The post will be based at either our Bankhead Depot, Glenrothes, or Halbeath Depot, Dunfermline.

Working as part of a team, you will undertake a wide range of road and footway maintenance and construction tasks, helping to maintain and improve the local road network. You will also contribute to the delivery of emergency response services throughout the year and support winter maintenance operations.

Key duties include road surfacing, kerbing, excavation works, drainage activities and the installation and maintenance of street furniture.

The role may require working in adverse weather conditions and participating in standby and emergency response arrangements as required.

Working hours are based on seasonal summer and winter schedules, averaging 36 hours per week over the year.

We are committed to supporting employee development. Successful candidates who hold a valid driving licence will have the opportunity to undertake LGV licence training, provided they are willing to participate in winter gritting operations as part of the role.

This is a permanent position with a salary at Single Status Grade FC4, with placement dependent on skills, knowledge, experience and qualifications.

The Person

You should have experience working within the roads maintenance and/or construction industry and be capable of working effectively in all weather conditions.

You will possess good communication skills and be able to adapt your approach when dealing with a range of situations, including interactions with members of the public. You should be able to work effectively as part of a team while also being capable of working with minimal supervision.

A willingness to participate in an out-of-hours emergency standby rota is essential.
