Role and Responsibilities

A SOC Manager is responsible for managing the SOC team , which monitors, detects, and responds to cybersecurity threats 24/7

Key responsibilities include

• Team Leadership : Hiring, mentoring, and training SOC analysts and engineers, establishing career paths, and preventing burnout in high-stress roles
• Incident Response : Acting as incident commander during security events, coordinating containment, removal, and recovery, and aligning with frameworks
• Security Strategy : Developing and implementing security policies, procedures, and overall cybersecurity strategy aligned with business objectives
• Tool and Technology Management : Overseeing SOC tools, cloud security platforms, and automated detection systems to improve efficiency and threat response
• Stakeholder Communication : Translating complex technical security issues into actionable insights for executives and other departments

Skills and Qualifications

Successful SOC Managers combine technical expertise with leadership and communication skills

• Technical Proficiency : Knowledge of cybersecurity technologies, threat landscapes, cloud security, and incident response protocols
• Leadership Skills : Ability to inspire teams, manage conflicts, and make strategic decisions
• Analytical Skills : Capability to analyze incidents, identify root causes, and implement preventive measures
