About The Role
Metalworking Category Manager
Flowserve is seeking an experienced Metalworking Category Manager to lead category strategy across machining, fabrications, pre-machining and post-machining subcontract services, and metal raw materials .
In this role, you will define and execute category strategies that build a high-performing supply base to support Flowserve’s growth and industry leadership. You will also partner closely with Supplier Performance, Global Sourcing, and Business Unit Supply Chains to drive cost reductions, contractual coverage, and supplier base optimization.
What You’ll Do
- Develop short- and long-term vision and strategic plans for the metalworking category.
- Lead supply chain de-risking by qualifying alternate sources and reducing sole- and single-source dependencies while addressing geopolitical, financial, and other risks.
- Identify and implement cost reduction strategies that create competitive advantage.
- Establish and manage Master Supplier Agreements for core strategic suppliers.
- Develop and deploy comprehensive best cost sourcing strategies across regions.
- Lead supplier negotiation, market analysis, and cross-functional collaboration to optimize cost, quality, and supply chain resilience.
- Evaluate new technologies to support innovation and competitive products.
What We’re Looking For
- 8–10 years of category management or supply chain experience at a regional or global level.
- Experience in procurement, sourcing, or category management.
- Expertise in at least one of these areas: machining, fabrications, pre-machining and post-machining subcontract services, or metal raw materials.
- Strong understanding of the commercial and technical aspects of the category.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, influencing, and listening skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a matrix and network organizational model.
- Strong supply chain project management capability, including new product introduction, value engineering, design to value, best cost sourcing, and total cost of ownership.
- Good understanding of technologies, market intelligence, and trends in the metalworking industry.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or related field.
- Knowledge of Oil & Gas, Energy, Power, or Industrial Markets.
- Proficiency in written and verbal English; a second language is a plus.
- Experience with Ariba and or other Vendor Management Systems.
- Familiarity with North American and Latin American supplier base.
- Ability to use Excel advanced features for data analysis.
- Travel up to 30%.
