Software Engineer - Screening Controls

Join Wise, a global technology company on a mission to make money management easier and more affordable for everyone. As a Software Engineer in the Screening Controls team, you will design and build scalable screening services, collaborate with compliance and regional product teams, and drive platform capabilities for seamless integration. You will have a strong product mindset, excellent communication skills, and experience with Java, relational databases, and CI/CD pipelines.

• Design and build scalable, fault-tolerant screening services for sanctions, politically exposed persons, and adverse media across batch and real-time flows.
• Collaborate closely with Compliance teams to understand which checks are required, when to run them, and how best to implement them.
• Drive platform capabilities that let new Wise products integrate “out of the box” with screening.

**What does it take?**

• A strong product mindset: you prioritise work with customers and operational teams in mind and make data-driven decisions.
• Great communication skills and the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• 3+ years’ experience with *Java* 8+; experience with the *Spring* Framework and microservices best practices.
• Experience working with relational databases, query optimisation, and schema design.
• Practical familiarity with modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• You value testability and routinely back your code with automated tests.
• You believe in and follow best coding practices, code reviews, and open feedback.
• Experience with banking or FinCrime is a plus.
