Senior Fullstack Engineer - Customer Risk Assessment
Wise · Budapest, Budapest, Hungary
About The Role
Join Wise, a global technology company on a mission to make financial services faster, simpler, and more accessible for everyone. As a Senior Fullstack Engineer in the Customer Risk Assessment team, you will build a centralized platform for evaluating customer risk globally, impacting Wise's compliance operations and ensuring the safety of our customers' money. You will work in a cross-functional team, taking ownership of the product journey and driving risk mitigation.
**What will you be working on?:**
You’ll be having a real-world impact by building the systems that enable Wise to evaluate customer risk globally. Specifically, you will:
- **Build the full stack:** Design, develop, and deploy resilient backend microservices in Java (Spring Boot) and build intuitive, accessible frontends using React and TypeScript.
- **Create a 360-degree risk view:** Build the centralized tools that aggregate data across multiple fincrime topologies, giving our teams full visibility into customer risk profiles.
- **Drive risk mitigation:** Own and develop the common components of our risk mitigation handling, ensuring our Servicing Agents have scalable, standardized workflows.
- **Scale operations:** Break down complex bottlenecks in our servicing and compliance processes, delivering adaptable platform solutions that other Wise product teams can evolve to fit their specific needs.
- **Take ownership:** Take full ownership of the product journey—from identifying a problem and empathizing with stakeholders, to creating an execution plan and shipping it to production.
**What do you need?:**
- **Solid Backend Experience:** You have a strong engineering background in Java (familiarity with the Spring Boot stack) with years of experience putting scalable microservices into production and maintaining them in a cloud-based environment.
- **Frontend Skills:** You have experience building performant, responsive web applications using React and TypeScript/JavaScript.
- **High Coding Standards:** You are well-versed in writing clean, scalable, and testable code. You understand test coverage best practices, the test pyramid concept, and the value of code reviews.
- **Systems Architecture Knowledge:** You have experience designing and implementing distributed, concurrent systems and understand the tradeoffs between stateful/stateless and synchronous/asynchronous architectures.
- **Product Mindset:** You have the ability to break down complex projects into incremental milestones that deliver immediate customer value. The customer is at the heart of everything you do, and this empathy drives your decisions.
- **Great Communication:** You thrive in a collaborative environment and can articulate complex, technical concepts to a non-technical audience or distributed cross-functional peers.
