About The Role

Join COOL, a fast-growing AI company, as an Assistant Controller. In this hands-on role, you will lead multi-entity accounting, strengthen reporting and controls, and use technology to build a scalable finance function. You will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, support the monthly close and consolidated financial reporting process, and help strengthen the Company's financial systems, processes, and controls. The ideal candidate will have strong U.S. GAAP and technical accounting expertise, proven leadership capabilities, and experience operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

  • Lead day-to-day accounting operations, support the monthly close and consolidated financial reporting process, and oversee accounting across multiple legal entities, business units, and currencies.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and development to members of the accounting and finance team, establish clear ownership, accountability, and performance expectations.
  • Continuously improve financial processes, systems, automation, and reporting, and help ensure the finance infrastructure can support increasing transaction volume, geographic expansion, new products, and organizational growth.
  • A sense of humour and a love of online culture
  • Experience managing or playing a significant leadership role in the monthly close and consolidated financial reporting process
  • CPA preferred
  • Proven experience leading, developing, and managing accounting or finance team members
  • 7–10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including meaningful experience in a senior accounting, accounting manager, or Assistant Controller-level role
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Skilled at receiving and providing direct feedback
  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems, develop practical solutions, and drive projects through completion
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain financial concepts to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
  • A hands-on mindset and willingness to work directly in the details when necessary
  • Collaborative mindset and great teamwork skills
  • Proactive communicator
  • Strong understanding of financial controls, audit requirements, and accounting policies
  • Experience with multi-entity consolidations, intercompany accounting, FX remeasurement and translation, and international operations
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects concurrently and set and meet deadlines
  • Entrepreneurial & adaptable; great learning skills
  • Strong Excel, financial systems, and data-analysis capabilities
  • Demonstrated experience with multi-entity consolidation and foreign currency accounting
  • Must have a player/coach mentality, willing to both execute and lead
  • Experience working in a startup, high-growth, or similarly fast-paced environment
  • Strong ERP capabilities and willingness to use automation, integrations, data tools, and AI to improve Finance
  • Ability to support and contribute to FP&A, financial metrics, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Creative confidence
  • Ability to move beyond accounting results and understand variance analysis, margins, forecasts, KPIs, and underlying business drivers
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, develop, and hold accounting team members accountable
  • Must be able to work primarily between the hours of 9:30 AM - 6:30 PM ET
  • Able to search for possible solutions and apply them

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and demonstrated technical accounting capabilities
