About The Role

Join Form's Advanced Product Development team as a Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer. You will be responsible for developing the mechanical architecture and design of our next-generation iron-air battery system. This role involves first principles modeling and analysis, prototype builds, and collaboration with various engineering disciplines. You will also set technical direction for design-for-manufacturing and design-for-cost, represent mechanical engineering in cross-functional architecture reviews, and engage with critical vendors.

  • A record of technical leadership and mentorship — influencing engineering direction and raising team capability
  • Comfort operating with significant ambiguity in an early-stage environment ramping toward production, with the urgency to hit demanding schedule targets
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Bachelor's with 12+ years, or advanced degree with equivalent experience, in mechanical design of complex electromechanical or fluid/thermal systems
  • Deep first-principles grounding in thermo-fluid systems, with experience translating analytical models directly into design decisions
  • Demonstrated track record owning system-level architecture — not just component design — including the trade-offs across thermal, fluid, and structural interfaces
  • Experience taking a product from early-stage concept through to manufacturing and driving development strategy along the way
  • Experience in energy storage, batteries, or another safety-critical, highly regulated hardware industry is a strong plus
  • Strong ownership mentality to do what it takes; eager to roll up sleeves and get hands-on with hardware when necessary
