Principal Software Engineer (Control Systems)

Join our team as a Principal Software Engineer, where you will design and build high-performance control systems for our next-generation quantum computing platforms. This hands-on engineering role requires expertise in embedded software, real-time systems, GPU/FPGA acceleration, and hardware orchestration. You will work closely with our theory, software, and hardware teams, and your work will directly impact the operation, scaling, and performance of our quantum processors.

• Design and build high-performance control systems for next-generation quantum computing platforms, focusing on embedded software, real-time systems, and hardware orchestration.
• Develop and optimize deterministic, low-latency software for quantum hardware, including device drivers, Linux kernel modules, and custom subsystems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate quantum control flows into fast, reliable, production-ready code, and drive design decisions around determinism, throughput, and system scalability.

• At least 8 years of relevant postgraduate professional experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree a plus
• Organizational, coordination, and multi-tasking expertise
• Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to teamwork
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills involving large-scale systems
• Knowledge in one or more of the following areas: computer architecture, signal processing, algorithm development, quantum error correction, distributed systems, or compilers, with a willingness to learn across disciplines as needed
• Proficiency in software development using C++, Python, Rust, or Go; experience with NVIDIA CUDA toolchains and ability to apply these skills in rapid prototyping and production systems
