Software Development Manager (CBS Monetization)

About The Role
Join Clio, a leading legal technology company, as a Software Development Manager. In this role, you will lead the Clio Billing System (CBS) team, driving requirement definition, crafting roadmaps, and delivering impactful projects that contribute to Clio's revenue goals. You will also coach and build your team, create a safe and productive environment, and actively participate in projects and system development. This position is based in Burnaby, Canada, with a hybrid work model.
- Support and grow your team, ensuring strong execution and leadership.
- Drive requirement definition across different parts of the business and guide partners toward pragmatic solutions.
- Continuously evolve the way your team leverages AI and apply it at every step of the project and development lifecycle.
- You devise roadmaps to guide your team, but aren't beholden to them -- you easily adapt to a constantly changing world
- You are equally energized by both your own technical work as well as contributing to the career growth of your team
- You believe in providing honest, actionable feedback to your team, and encourage your team to reciprocate
- Growth mindset when it comes to process improvement and new technologies, especially AI
- Diverse base of knowledge that allows you to help your team solve complex technical problems
- A strong background in hands-on software development
- You have strong opinions that are weakly held, and foster that same attitude in others
- Demonstrated success in people leadership in software development, particularly with large scale SaaS products
- The ability to describe successful projects you worked on, as well as a collection of lessons learned from failed projects
- Proven ability to align a wide group of people with varying needs on pragmatic solutions
- Demonstrated ability to hire the best and brightest engineers in a fast-paced job market—and to coach, develop, and retain engineering talent
- History of successfully building clarity and understanding for non-technical stakeholders through written and verbal communication
- A philosophy on what makes for great software development teams
- Experience with Stripe Billing (other 3rd party subscription/billing solutions) or Salesforce integration; and
- Experience with quoting, subscriptions, and billing systems at scale
- Experience with Ruby on Rails
- Experience with product management or business analysis
