CL
Senior Director of Engineering (International)
Clio · Toronto, Canada
About The Role
Join Clio, a leading legal technology company, as the Senior Director of Engineering (International). In this highly visible role, you will lead the success of Clio's product suite across international markets, focusing on the UKI, APAC, Canada, and more. You will directly supervise and mentor engineering managers and directors, lead the strategy and execution behind Clio's international expansion, and champion the shift toward an AI-native engineering culture. This position offers a hybrid work model, equitable compensation, and various benefits.
- Lead the strategy and execution behind Clio's continued international expansion, building the right foundation — regulatory, business, and cultural — as we grow into new markets.
- Directly supervise, mentor, and collaborate with the engineering managers and directors who are in the thick of it every day, ensuring the successful execution of product development.
- Partner with leadership in Product Management and Product Design to envision, develop, and execute our international expansion roadmap, ensuring alignment with overall business goals.
- Experienced in crafting long-term strategies and managing technical roadmaps that pave the way for future growth
- Successful running agile organizations at scale, with a sense of urgency to deliver quality software to solve customer problems
- Proven international SaaS experience, having navigated differing regulatory systems, business practices, and cultural expectations across markets
- Demonstrated experience in promoting positive culture and diversity throughout a large engineering organization to achieve transformational change
- Experienced senior engineering leader who's still comfortable rolling up your sleeves and contributing hands-on when necessary, even as you operate primarily at the strategy layer
- AI proficient, with definitive examples of shifting an engineering organization's culture toward AI-native ways of working
- Adept at managing and mentoring high-performing teams, nurturing talent, and guiding individuals toward professional growth and development
- Strong "builder" mindset — you thrive on establishing and developing new teams, processes, and markets, rather than just optimizing ones that already exist
