Staff Electro-Mechanical Engineer at E-Space

About The Role

Join E-Space as a Staff Electro-Mechanical Engineer specializing in battery packaging. In this role, you will be responsible for the development, building, and testing of satellite battery hardware. You will work closely with various teams and report to the Electro-Mechanical Engineering Lead. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in mechanical or electrical engineering, with at least 5 years in electro-mechanical design, including battery pack design.

Participate in the development, building, and testing of E-Space satellite battery hardware, including electro-mechanical design and battery pack design.
Execute all aspects of battery pack electro-mechanical design, including battery cell interconnect, packaging, thermal and electrical accommodation, leading design reviews.
Produce drawings and documents including fabrication packages, interface control documents, assembly procedures, test procedures, certification reports, etc.

Experienced with production levelDFx and FMEA
Skilled with CAD tools
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar
Expertise with module packaging including integrating PCBs and interconnect into enclosures
Experience with mechanical and thermal stress-testing such as vibration, shock, and thermal cycling
Demonstrated success working in a dynamic environment
Expertise with battery cells and interconnect such as laser welding and ultrasonic bonding
10+ years of experience in electro-mechanical engineering
Experience with UN38.3 testing
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar
Expertise with rigid and flex PCB technologies, packaging, and interconnect
Experience performing thermal analysis in Thermal Desktop, IcePak, Comsol, or similar tools
Experience producing battery packs in high volumes
Expertise with polymerics including epoxies and conformal coatings
Experience designing for space environments
