Length: Fulltime (40h a week)
NOTE: YOU MUST BE ENROLLED IN EDUCATION DURING THE ENTIRE INTERNSHIP TO BE CONSIDERED.
You will be part of EMEA Service Engineering, which is part of the Vehicle Software organization. Service Engineering is responsible for keeping our global vehicle fleet operating as intended – analyzing data to identify issues or trends, creating repair and diagnostic procedures for vehicle repair technicians, and developing software-based fixes which roll out Over-The-Air to vehicles. When a failure mode is unknown or new, Service Engineering get to the root cause and own issues through to resolution.
The internship focuses on identifying and resolving field issues affecting vehicle charging. Specifically, you will
- Use fleet data to identify new issues affecting vehicle charging operation and reliability
- Root cause and recreate charging issues in the lab or on engineering vehicles, then implement and test mitigations or countermeasures
- Develop and improve alerts to improve vehicle and fleet level diagnostics
- Track and prove the impact of your improvements as they make their way to customer vehicles
Responsibilities
Detailed understanding of EV charging, electrical and communications systems
Detailed understanding of large set data analysis, and how to accurately prove the impact of changes
Writing embedded software to the standard required by Tesla and how to put in guardrails which ensure this functionality does not get broken by subsequent changes that other developers will add
Gain experience in developing diagnostic tools that are fast and accurate
Learn how to conduct sufficient system testing and validation
Requirements
- Pursuing a degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronic, Robotics, Mechatronics or Communications) or Computer Science
- Solid coding skills ideally in C
- Experience with analysis and data processing using Python
- Able to review electrical schematics, and experience or coursework on power electronics
- Knowledge of digital communication and protocols, including CAN
- Must be fluent in English
