Your New Role
Reporting to the Head of Financial Control, the Principal, Financial Control, Accounting & Projects will drive consistency, quality and accountability across Financial Control, Operational Accounting, Technical Accounting and Accounts Payable functions. They will also establish and oversee a portfolio of Finance projects to deliver strategic initiatives.
- Provide leadership and oversight of the Fund's financial control framework, ensuring robust governance, internal controls and financial risk management practices.
- Drive consistency, quality and accountability across Financial Control, Operational Accounting, Technical Accounting and Accounts Payable functions.
- Accountable for the integrity and timely delivery of financial accounting activities across all AustralianSuper entities.
- Oversee month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities, ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with accounting standards.
- Lead the Finance change and transformation agenda across Financial Control.
- Establish and oversee a portfolio of Finance projects, ensuring priorities, dependencies, risks and benefits are actively managed.
What You’ll Need
- Tertiary qualifications in a business or related field such as Bachelor of Business, Management, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Economics.
- Completion of CPA/ACA or postgraduate studies in finance.
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- APRA experience at a senior level
- Prior experience in the financial services industry.
- Prior experience in translating legislative and compliance obligations into business processes
- Prior experience in regulatory reporting
- Developed ability to identify when data and analysis is materially incorrect and obtain solutions.
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to present ideas, perspectives and issues to management.
- Developed stakeholder relationship skills, including proven ability to initiate, maintain and develop relationships with peers with the objective of gaining cooperation and meeting timelines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a range of people at all levels across the Fund, regulators and industry associations.
- Advanced analytical skills and a high attention to detail.
