Are you an experienced Psychiatrist and clinical leader looking for an opportunity where your expertise can make a genuine and lasting impact?

We are seeking an accomplished Director of Clinical Services – Mental Health to provide senior clinical leadership across mental health and Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) services throughout the Kimberley region of Western Australia .

Based in Broome , this is a rare opportunity to combine senior clinical practice with strategic leadership, service development, clinical governance and medical education within one of Australia's most unique and culturally diverse regions.

The Opportunity

Working closely with the Regional Manager of Mental Health and AOD, you will provide clinical leadership across the Broome Hospital Acute Psychiatric Unit (APU) and regional community-based Mental Health and AOD services.

You will play a key role in shaping the future of mental health care across the Kimberley, supporting high-quality clinical services across a geographically dispersed region.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Providing senior clinical governance, leadership and oversight across regional mental health services
  • Providing comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and treatment
  • Supporting safe, evidence-based and high-quality clinical care
  • Providing clinical leadership across the Broome Hospital APU and regional community services
  • Supporting consultation-liaison psychiatry across regional hospitals
  • Working with clinical and operational leaders to develop and strengthen regional services
  • Ensuring services align with relevant mental health legislation, standards and WA Health strategies
  • Providing supervision, mentorship and professional support to psychiatry trainees and medical staff
  • Supporting education, workforce development and clinical capability across the multidisciplinary team
  • Contributing to service improvement, clinical innovation and strategic planning

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a senior Psychiatrist who brings strong clinical expertise together with leadership capability.

You will have

  • FRANZCP
  • Unconditional specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia
  • Significant senior clinical and/or medical leadership experience
  • Strong generalist psychiatry experience
  • Experience across mental health and/or Alcohol and Other Drug services
  • Demonstrated ability to provide clinical governance and lead multidisciplinary teams
  • A strong commitment to medical education and workforce development
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A commitment to culturally safe and patient-centred care
  • The ability to work effectively across a regional and geographically dispersed service
