PwC is the number one M&A advisor in New Zealand and the only Big 4 firm in Aotearoa with a broad deal advisory capability across M&A, infrastructure, debt advisory, property and transaction services. This prov ides unique e xposure to some of New Zealand’s most important and c omplex transactions , stra teg ic r eview s and in vestment d ecisions .

Our Corporate Finance team is looking for a high-performing professional to join us in Christchurch. This role sits at the centre of PwC’s work wit h b usine ss ow ners , corp orate s, in vestors and p ub lic -sector or gan is a tions , supporting clients throu gh acqui sitions, div estments , valuation s, capi tal raising , stra tegic revi ews a nd ot her sig nifi cant i nve st ment and tra nsac tion d ecision s .

The team also supports selected infrastructure and capital-intensive assignments where our corporate finance, valuation and strategic advisory capabilities are relevant.

Your r esponsib ilities wil l include

  • Leading complex financial analysis , valuation and modelling across M&A , s trate gy and trans action se rvi ces engagements, working directly with clients and o vers ee ing analyst teams to deliver clear, commercially robust insights.
  • Leading key aspects of transaction execution, including preparing trans actio n materials, coordinating due diligence, managing stakeholder workstreams and supporting negotiations through to completion.
  • Managi ng engagements to en sure they are delivered efficiently on time and within budget.
  • A rticul ating key issues, risks and opportunities to support senior stakeholders ’ investment and strategic decisions.
  • Developing, reviewing and presenting high-impact materials, including in formation me morandum , valuatio n reports , stra tegic options pap e rs and client presentations.
  • Pr oviding leaders h ip , c oaching and mentoring team members, fos tering collaboration and e xercising sound jud gement in reso l ving or e scalatin g complex commerc ial and financial ma tters .
  • Contributing to business development by identifying client needs, developing proposals and building trusted relationships across the South Island market.
  • Modelling PwC’s commitment to excellence, integrity and professional standards across client and internal work.

At Associate Director level, you will also take greater responsibility for originating opportunities, leading client relationships and engagement s, managing transaction processes and de veloping the team .

  • Ty pically , a t lea st 5 years’ relevant experience for app ointment at Manager level, and at leas t 7 years’ relevant experience for Associate Director level, gain ed in c orporate f i nanc e , M & A , valuations , tr ans actio n serv ices, strategy, investme nt banki ng or a related a dvisory field . Appointment level will reflect the candidate’s experience, capability and demonstrated leadership .
  • Strong financial modelling , va luation a nd commercial analysis capability , including the ability to interpret and communicate key value drivers , transaction issues, risks and opportunities.
  • P ractical e xperience in one or mo re of M&A ex ecution , busine ss valuations , cap ital ra isin g , st rategic a dv isory or financial due diligence .
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel ; experience wi th macros is advan tageo us .
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to dev el op clear and compelling messages for s enior stakeh olders .
  • Dem onst rated c omposure , sound jud gem en t and leadership in complex or uncertain environments.
  • C ommitment to continuous learning and technical excellence.
  • A CA or CFA qualification, completed or in progress, is desirable.
