Meet Our Team
The team manages Warner Bros. Discovery’s logical content inventory and descriptive metadata ecosystem. It owns the platforms, services, and workflows that create, enrich, govern, and maintain trusted program records across the content lifecycle, ensuring content is accurate, discoverable, and consistently used across enterprise systems.
We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team responsible for some of WBD's most critical systems. This role combines technical leadership, operational excellence, and people management, with broad visibility across engineering, product, and business stakeholders.
Roles & Responsibilities
People Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and grow a high-performing team of software engineers.
- Foster a culture of ownership, technical excellence, and operational rigor.
- Partner with engineering leadership on hiring, organizational planning, and talent development.
- Set clear expectations and help engineers balance velocity, quality, and reliability.
- Build an inclusive, collaborative environment where engineers can do their best work.
Technical & Delivery Leadership
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of business-critical platforms and services that support enterprise content, metadata, and workflow management capabilities.
- Drive the delivery of scalable, reliable, and high-performance solutions that enable efficient management, governance, and discovery of critical business information.
- Ensure services are highly available, resilient, secure, and cost-effective while maintaining operational excellence and strong engineering practices.
- Define and execute technical strategy, architecture direction, and roadmap priorities, balancing short-term business needs with long-term platform evolution.
- Partner with product, operations and other engineering stakeholders to deliver impactful capabilities that improve efficiency, automation, data quality, and user experience.
- Foster a culture of engineering excellence through technical leadership, mentoring, process improvement, and adoption of modern development practices and technologies.
- Drive planning, execution, and delivery across multiple initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, quality standards, and customer outcomes.
Product & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Product Management to define roadmaps and priorities for content and observability capabilities.
- Collaborate with engineering, and business stakeholders to deliver trusted metrics and actionable insights.
- Drive alignment across teams to execute complex, cross-functional initiatives.
- Act as an advocate for internal customers, treating data and observability capabilities as products.
- Communicate technical strategy, risks, and progress effectively to leadership and stakeholders.
What to Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 12-15 years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years leading and developing high-performing engineering teams.
- Strong technical foundation in cloud-native applications, microservices, APIs, and distributed systems, with experience defining architecture, driving technical strategy, and guiding engineering teams. Experience in Java/Spring Boot, Angular, AWS, relational and non-relational databases, event-driven architectures, and modern CI/CD practices
- Proven track record of delivering scalable, reliable, and business-critical platforms while balancing engineering excellence, operational efficiency, and business priorities.
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and partnering effectively with Product, Business, Operations, Data, and Engineering stakeholders to deliver strategic outcomes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and coaching skills, with the ability to build high-performing teams and foster a culture of ownership, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Nice to Have
- Experience with graph databases, metadata management platforms, or large-scale content and asset management systems
- Experience leading platform modernization, technology transformation, or consolidation initiatives involving multiple legacy systems and data sources into a unified platform.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale platforms with complex data, governance, workflow, and operational requirements.
- Experience in media, content management, digital asset management, streaming, or other large-scale digital platforms.
