About The Role

SUPERVISOR - FOSTER CARE

Every year, children in Washtenaw County and surrounding areas need safe homes and steady advocates. As a Foster Care Supervisor, you won’t just manage a program, you’ll lead the team of Case Managers who make sure children, birth parents, and foster families receive the support they need to become whole families again. This is a role for someone who wants their leadership to translate directly into better outcomes for children.

Position Overview

  • Supervise and mentor a team of Foster Care Case Managers, providing hands-on guidance and support.
  • Ensure services meet the highest standard of quality and compassion for children, birth parents, and foster families.
  • Guide your team through Michigan licensing and foster care law and policy.
  • Build a collaborative, inclusive team culture where staff feel supported and engaged.
  • Step in to carry a case load when staffing needs require.
  • Share rotating on-call coverage with the Child Welfare team for 24/7 crisis response (about one week a month, with additional compensation)

Qualifications & Experience

  • 2+ years of supervisory experience: foster care experience preferred, other child welfare experience considered.
  • Master's degree strongly preferred; BSW with CWTI training and significant experience will be considered.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of engaging clients, partners, and staff effectively.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel within a 100-mile radius (mileage reimbursed).
