Job Scope

High level purpose of function.

The S enior Category Specialist is responsible for managing the sourcing and contracting of goods and services that support the entire organization's operations, excluding direct materials (raw materials).

T h e Senior Ca teg ory is part of the global Category team and responsible to support the developing and executing the global sourcing strategy for a critical portfolio of high-value MRO an d Con su ma bles ca tegor i es . This role drives significant cost savings, ensures supplier performance, and minimizes supply risk by leading contract negotiations and managing key relationships with global and local suppliers .

The sen ior specialist drives value through strategic sourcing, negotiation, and process optimization to achieve cost savings and ensure continuity of business operations.

Key Responsibilities

Overall areas of responsibilities and activities

  • Category Strategy: Active drive and s u pport to d evelop and maintain a comprehensive, multi-year strategic plan for the MRO and C onsumable s category, identifying key suppliers, market trends, technological advancements, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Sourcing and Negotiation: Manag e the entire Source-to-Contract process, including issuing RFI/RFPs, conducting detailed technical and commercial evaluations, and negotiating complex supply agreements and long-term service contracts (SLAs) Category Sourcing:
  • Risk & Compliance: Identify and mitigate supply chain risks specific to the ca tegory (e.g., single-source risk, intellectual property protection, geopolitical stability). Ensure all contracts comply with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Negotiation & Contracting: Lead commercial negotiations with suppliers to secure optimal pricing, favorable payment terms, and strong contractual language ( SLAs, Warranties ) for goods and services.
  • Cost Management & Analysis: Identify , track, and deliver verifiable cost savings and value-capture opportunities (PIR ) within the assigned spend portfolio. Conduct spends analysis and market research to inform sourcing strategies.
  • Supplier Relationship Management (SRM): Manage operational and strategic relationships with key suppliers, monitor performance against KPIs and drive continuous improvement in service delivery.
  • Stakeholder Alignment: Collaborate with internal business partners to understand their requirements and dema nd , enforce procurement policy compliance, and ensure sourcing activities meet their operational needs and t argets .
  • Procure-to-Pay (P2P) Optimization: Support the continuous improvement of procurement processes and tools, helping to streamline requisitions, purchasing , and invoicing flows.

Requirements

Educational background and previous experience required for the role.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Strategic Sourcing, Category Management, or Procurement, with a minimum of 3 years in managing Indirect Spend categories.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong demonstrated proficiency in commercial contract negotiation and risk mitigation and p roven negotiation skills for high-value, high-complexity contracts .
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, ORACLE) and e- s ourcing / P 2 P platforms.
  • Knowledge of relevant legal contract terms (IP, I ndemnification , Warranties).
  • Goo d knowledge of global sourcing processes, contracting, and commercial law.
  • Strong financial acumen, including total cost of ownership (TCO) modeling , cost driver analysis, and clean-sheet costing.
  • Personal Success Factors: Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking abilities. Proven ability to influence internal stakeholders and lead cross-functional sourcing teams to consensus in a complex, fast-paced environment.
