What You'll Do
As a Field Service Technician, you'll install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain WOW! services while delivering an exceptional customer experience.
Daily Responsibilities Include
- Installing, upgrading, reconnecting, disconnecting, and modifying internet, video, and phone services
- Installing and relocating outlets, converters, modems, and customer equipment
- Running interior and exterior wiring
- Diagnosing signal, picture quality, and connectivity issues
- Troubleshooting from the customer device all the way to the network tap
- Repairing and replacing network components and coaxial cable
- Performing speed tests, ping tests, trace routes, and network diagnostics
- Training customers on the proper use of equipment and services
- Ensuring compliance with FCC, NESC, OSHA, and WOW! standards
- Maintaining company vehicles, tools, and equipment
- Completing work orders and documentation accurately
- Delivering outstanding customer service at every interaction
What You'll Need
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to explain technical information to non-technical customers
- Ability to operate handheld technology and field service applications
- Ability to read maps and navigate service areas
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed
Technical Skills
- Experience using testing equipment such as:
- Signal Level Meters (SLM)
- Volt-OHM Meters
- Ability to maintain accurate records, work orders, and service documentation
Physical Requirements
This position is active, hands-on, and performed in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments.
Candidates must be able to
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Lift and carry up to 90 pounds
- Carry and safely operate extension ladders (up to approximately 28 feet and 75 pounds)
- Work at heights, including rooftops and utility poles
- Work in confined spaces such as attics and crawl spaces
- Bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, push, pull, and grasp regularly
- Distinguish between wire colors and sizes
- Safely operate company vehicles and work near electrical equipment and power lines
