Freelance Completions Inspector

About The Role
Intertek, a global leader in ATIC (Assurance, Testing, Inspection and Certification) Services, is actively looking for experienced Freelance Completions Inspector s to join our network of freelancers and support multiple ongoing projects across Norway.
Job Summary
The Completions Inspector is responsible for verifying the integrity, quality, and compliance of all completions equipment and procedures used in the well completion phase. This includes inspection of tools, equipment, downhole assemblies, and ensuring all completions activities adhere to engineering specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and verify all well completion tools and equipment (e.g., packers, plugs, perforation guns, sleeves, sand control systems) prior to delivery and installation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards (API, ISO, DS-1) and client-specific requirements.
- Witness function tests, pressure tests, and QA/QC checks of completion assemblies.
- Review and verify documentation such as equipment certification, pressure test charts, and QA records.
- Monitor onsite completion activities to ensure quality procedures are followed.
- Identify and report any defects, damages, or non-conformances; recommend corrective actions.
- Interface with service providers, tool manufacturers, and completions engineers to ensure readiness and compliance.
- Assist in verifying installation and pulling procedures during upper and lower completions.
- Generate detailed inspection reports and maintain proper documentation and traceability.
- Support the safe execution of well completions operations by ensuring all HSE policies and standards are met.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Petroleum, or related Engineering field (preferred).
- API Q1/Q2, DS-1, or other QA/QC certifications (advantageous).
- Relevant tool-specific or service provider certifications (e.g., Schlumberger, Halliburton, Baker Hughes) are a plus.
Experience
- 3–5+ years experience in well completions, QA/QC, or field inspection roles.
- Solid knowledge of lower and upper completion tools and techniques (e.g., gravel pack, frac sleeves, ESP, ICDs, etc.).
- Familiarity with offshore and/or onshore well environments, rig operations, and service company procedures.
Skills
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Familiarity with completions programs, QA documentation, and technical standards.
- Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
- Effective communication and report writing capabilities.
- Proficiency with MS Office and digital inspection/reporting systems.
Work Environment
- Field-based, often in remote, offshore, or harsh environments.
- Rotational schedule (e.g., 28/28 or 14/14) may apply.
- Exposure to high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) conditions.
- Must comply with company safety and environmental policies; PPE required at all times.
