Lead Critical Environment Logistics Material Handler

What this job involves

As a Lead Critical Environment Logistics Material Handler at JLL, you will oversee and direct a team of Material Handlers responsible for maintaining the seamless operation of mission-critical facilities where precision and reliability are paramount. This leadership position involves supervising the complex logistics of specialized materials, equipment, and supplies within a data centers environment where operational continuity cannot be compromised. You will manage team performance, optimize workflows, coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders, and ensure adherence to strict protocols and safety standards while maintaining accurate inventory control systems.

What your day-to-day will look like

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the Material Handler team, including work assignments, scheduling, and performance management
  • Oversee the receipt, inspection, and verification of incoming shipments of critical materials, equipment, and spare parts to ensure compliance with purchase orders and specifications
  • Monitor and maintain accurate inventory records using computerized warehouse management systems and establish cycle count schedules to ensure inventory accuracy
  • Serve as primary liaison with vendors, suppliers, and internal teams to negotiate delivery schedules and resolve discrepancies or quality issues
  • Prioritize and expedite emergency material requests, ensuring the team responds with urgency and precision to minimize potential downtime to critical operations
  • Conduct regular audits of storage areas and team compliance with environmental controls, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with maintenance leadership and engineering teams to forecast material needs and establish optimal stock levels for critical components
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures for material movements, transfers, and disposals in accordance with established procedures and regulatory guidelines
  • Train, mentor, and develop team members on proper handling techniques, safety protocols, and inventory management best practices
  • Lead facility emergency response coordination by ensuring team readiness and rapid access to critical spare parts and emergency supplies
  • Analyze operational metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Prepare reports on inventory status, team performance, and operational challenges for senior management review

Required qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 5+ years of experience in warehouse operations, logistics, or materials management, including 2+ years in a supervisory or lead capacity
  • Proven experience working in critical environments such as data centers, healthcare facilities, laboratories, or manufacturing plants
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams in high-pressure, mission-critical environments
  • Advanced proficiency with warehouse management systems, inventory software, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong understanding of proper handling techniques for sensitive electronic equipment and hazardous materials
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including bending, reaching, and standing for extended periods
  • Exceptional attention to detail with demonstrated accuracy in record-keeping and inventory management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to lead diverse teams and manage relationships with external vendors
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills under pressure
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require
  • Valid driver's license and certification to operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks

Preferred qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or related field
  • Experience developing and implementing specialized critical environment protocols and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Multiple certifications in material handling equipment operation (forklift, scissor lift, aerial lift, etc.)
  • In-depth knowledge of ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) protocols and cleanroom procedures
  • Extensive experience in mission-critical facility operations or similar high-stakes environments
  • Strong familiarity with OSHA safety regulations and hazardous material handling procedures
  • Proven experience implementing lean inventory management principles and leading continuous improvement initiatives
  • Project management experience and familiarity with process optimization methodologies
  • Experience with budget management and cost control initiatives
