Founding BDR
Clera · Berlin, Germany
About The Role
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is the founding BDR seat at an early-stage B2B AI startup targeting Europe's industrial enterprises, sitting directly alongside the COO to build the entire top-of-funnel from scratch. You will own the outreach strategy, the messaging, and the pipeline that determines how AI agents land in large-scale industrial operations. It is a high-ownership, high-visibility role where the market is being shaped right now.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Make cold calls every day, treating each conversation as real-time market feedback and a chance to sharpen your approach.
- Build and prioritize a target account list, identifying which industrial enterprises fit the ideal customer profile and which trigger events make outreach timely.
- Work warm pipeline from trade fairs, webinars, and existing relationships, turning interest into booked discovery meetings.
- Execute multi-channel cadences across cold call, LinkedIn, and email, spotting what lands and feeding insights back to tighten messaging each week.
- Book qualified discovery meetings with procurement leaders and C-level contacts at complex industrial enterprises, measured by pipeline impact rather than activity volume.
- Feed market intelligence back across the company so every objection and sharpened line informs positioning, product, and go-to-market strategy.
- Shadow discovery calls and grow into running them, building a clear path from BDR toward owning deals.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 0 to 2 years of commercial experience in sales, fundraising, sponsorship acquisition, or a venture of your own, with a demonstrated track record of winning over stakeholders.
- Fluent German (essential for phone conversations with Mittelstand manufacturers) and strong professional English.
- Proven ability to execute cold outreach by phone, email, and LinkedIn, and to convert conversations into qualified meetings with enterprise decision-makers.
- Experience building and running multi-channel sales sequences and prioritizing target accounts against an ICP.
- Strong communicator with presence who builds rapport quickly on the phone and holds their own with experienced professionals.
- Resilient by disposition, treating rejection as market information and maintaining conversation quality through high-volume outreach.
- Growth mindset with an appetite for hard feedback and measurable week-over-week improvement.
- Familiarity with supply chain, procurement, manufacturing, or industrial operations is a plus, as is experience with CRM and sales engagement platforms.
