Production Training Specialist

About The Role
The Production Training Specialist is responsible for guiding newly hired employees through their initial two-week on-the-job training and acclimation period. This role provides structured training, coaching, assessment, and documentation for designated production positions, including Packing Operators and Harvest Technicians, before employees transition to their assigned shift and lead.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide hands-on training and coaching to new hires following completion of company orientation.
- Deliver established training curriculum for assigned production roles.
- Introduce employees to work centers, equipment, safety expectations, GMPs, sanitation requirements, quality standards, and production expectations.
- Observe employee performance and provide real-time coaching and corrective instruction.
- Complete required training records, checklists, and written employee assessments.
- Evaluate employee readiness and identify individuals requiring additional coaching or who may not be suited for the assigned role.
- Communicate employee progress and concerns to Operations leadership, Human Resources, supervisors, and line leads.
- Provide a structured handoff of successfully trained employees to their assigned shift and lead.
- Train and coach employees in both English and Spanish as needed.
- Document lessons learned and recommend improvements to training materials, work instructions, and onboarding processes.
- Maintain a positive and professional learning environment while reinforcing safety, attendance, quality, and performance expectations.
- Follow all applicable safety, GMP, HACCP, sanitation, and food quality requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS
- High school diploma or GED.
- Bilingual English and Spanish communication skills.
- Strong verbal, written, and documentation skills.
- Ability to provide clear instruction, coaching, and constructive feedback.
- Ability to objectively assess employee performance and readiness.
- Ability to learn and consistently deliver established training curriculum.
- Ability to work in refrigerated and varying greenhouse environments.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the positions being trained, including repetitive work and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS
- Previous experience in production, greenhouse operations, food manufacturing, agriculture, or a similar fast-paced environment.
- Prior experience as a trainer, lead, mentor, or supervisor.
- Familiarity with Packing Operator and/or Harvest Technician responsibilities.
- Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, sanitation, food safety, and workplace safety practices.
- Ability to identify training gaps and recommend practical process improvements.
