Location: Gothenburg, Sweden

  • Working model: Preferably on-site work. Hybrid setup, up to 2 days remote per week can be discussed.
  • Travel: Up to 30 days per year.

About the Role

We are looking for a Welding Engineer to join our Applications Engineering team within R&D Filler Metals.

This position offering the opportunity to combine welding engineering expertise, hands-on technical work and project management. You will support internal and external customers by investigating technical challenges, coordinating welding trials and testing, and developing reliable and cost-effective solutions.

You will work closely with R&D development engineers, product managers, welders and laboratory specialists, making this a highly collaborative and varied role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage Applications Engineering projects from initial request through to final reporting.
  • Provide technical welding expertise and support to internal and external customers.
  • Plan and coordinate welding trials, testing and technical investigations.
  • Work closely with chemical, metallographic, mechanical and non-destructive testing laboratories.
  • Analyze test results and develop conclusions and recommendations.
  • Develop welding processes, procedures and recommendations for customer applications.
  • Support the application of ESAB filler metals in different customer applications.
  • Perform competitor comparisons and evaluate new and existing product combinations.
  • Read, interpret and apply relevant welding standards, regulations and test methods.
  • Prepare technical reports and document project findings and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with R&D and other internal stakeholders to deliver effective solutions.
  • When required, support activities directly at customer sites.

About You

We are looking for a technically strong and curious Welding Engineer who enjoys combining theoretical knowledge with practical, hands-on experience.

You are

  • Self-driven, structured and able to take ownership of projects.
  • Analytical and solution oriented.
  • A good communicator and active listener.
  • Open-minded and willing to learn from colleagues and other technical experts.
  • Comfortable working independently while also being a strong team player.
  • Able to coordinate different stakeholders and keep projects moving forward.
  • Interested in solving technical problems and supporting customers.
  • Comfortable with technical documentation and report writing.

Your Background

  • Degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Minimum BSc; MSc or PhD is an advantage.
  • Several years of relevant experience in welding technology and welding applications.
  • Practical experience with welding processes, equipment, materials and process parameters.
  • Experience in project management or a role involving significant ownership and coordination.
  • Knowledge of welding standards and test methods is required.
  • IWE qualification is preferred, while IWT or equivalent competence combined with relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Fluent English, both written and spoken, is required.
  • Swedish is highly desirable but not mandatory.
