We have a great opportunity for you at the Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering of the Technical University of Denmark (DTU-Construct)!

We are seeking candidates who are passionate about sustainability and have expertise in dynamic modelling and optimization of both thermochemical and thermo-mechanical energy systems.

By joining us, you will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and expert assistance for developing your courses and writing research funding proposals for Danish and EU platforms. We actively facilitate strengthening your professional networks, both within Denmark and the EU, extending our support to aid you in attracting top students to your research area.

Responsibilities and qualifications

The primary purpose of the Tenure Track Researcher's role in our Thermal Energy Section is to reinforce our expertise in the broad area of Thermal Energy Systems. This role is instrumental in attracting both funding and student talent to expand our activities in these areas. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for contributing to our research activities and projects in this specific area and collaborating with other colleagues in the section with relevant expertise.

As a part of your key responsibilities, you will

  • Publish impactful work in leading journals and conferences in your field.
  • Contribute to securing funding for your research area from both Denmark and the European Union.
  • Contribute to teaching, guiding, and supervising BSc, MSc, and PhD projects, as well as postdoctoral researchers.
  • Actively participate in creating a robust and vibrant environment within the Thermal Energy section.

This role requires a deep understanding of areas related to future energy systems, energy efficiency, and advanced energy storage and heat transformation technologies to tackle the challenges towards future sustainable energy systems, distinguishing ability/interest in attracting funding, and a commitment to teaching and mentorship. Your ability to work collaboratively and foster a supportive, innovative learning environment will be key to your success.

We are recruiting candidates with a strong track record of publications (books and WoS-indexed journals and reputed conferences) and finished/ongoing funded projects from competitive platforms on the following specific topics, among others, for instance:

  • Energy storage technologies
  • Heat transformers and heat pumps
  • Industrial symbiosis and integration
  • Integration of renewable energy in industrial energy systems

You must contribute to the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.

As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).

Salary and terms of employment

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. In addition, supplements can be negotiated in accordance with DTU’s salary structure for scientific staff: www.inside.dtu.dk/en/human-resources/during-employment/salary/salary-structures .

Starting date is as soon as possible and according to mutual agreement. The position is a full-time position.
