About The Role
Job Purpose
Supervise, coordinate and execute laboratory operational activities by conducting them in a safe and reliable manner in compliance with statutory, regulatory and quality requirements, providing effective laboratory operations and services as well as facilitating laboratory equipment life cycle and materials management to support teaching & learning, and research activities.
Key Accountabilities
Governance & Compliance Management
Supervise, coordinate and execute teaching & learning, and research activities by performing necessary duties related to compliance with statutory, regulatory and quality requirements, supervise HSE programs for the safety of the workplace and people as well as maintaining and sustaining quality assurance in ensuring effective governance and compliance management.
Laboratory Operations & Services
Teaching and Learning : Supervise, coordinate and execute the teaching & learning laboratory operations by (i) facilitating lab sessions and experiment setup based on good engineering practice (ii) conducting a risk assessment on lab activities, (iii) coordinating ULab activities, (iv) conducting the lab housekeeping and waste disposal activities to ensure safe, efficient, and effective laboratory delivery to support the teaching & learning at the university.
Research : Supervise, coordinate and execute the research laboratory operations by (i) maintaining the research infrastructure (ii) facilitating risk assessment on lab activities (iii) assisting on lab renovation, refurbishment, and space matters, (iv) supervising ULab activities, (v) ensuring lab housekeeping and waste disposal activities to ensure safe, efficient, and effective laboratory delivery to support research activities at the university.
Laboratory Asset & Material Management
Teaching and Learning : Supervise, coordinate and execute the administration of lab equipment and consumables by (i) reporting on asset and infrastructure operational condition, (ii) inventory auditing, inclusive of purchases for replenishment to ensure asset reliability and material availability to support teaching & learning at the university.
Research : Supervise, coordinate and execute the administration of laboratory operations by (i) reporting on the research infrastructure and (ii) assisting in asset disposal activities to support research activities at the university.
Qualification & Experience
- Recognised Civil Engineering Diploma with experience in concrete technology and materials testing, hydrology and water resource management.
- Experienced in performing concrete preparation and concrete tests such as slump test and compressive strength. Conducting hydrological surveys and data collection, preparing technical reports and maintaining lab records is an added advantage.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Good analytical skills.
- Good interpersonal skills (team worker).
