Fleet Services Master Technician

T he Division of Fleet Services is responsible for managing and maintaining the Town’s fleet of approximately 800 vehicles and equipment. An employee in this class serves as the most experienced and technically advanced technician in the Town’s fleet garage and functions as a subject matter expert (SME) for vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair. The Master Technician performs complex diagnostics, advanced troubleshooting, and high-level repairs on a diverse municipal fleet consisting of light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles (Class 1 through Class 8) and a broad range of specialized municipal equipment supporting public safety, public works, utilities, parks, administration, and other Town departments. In addition to performing hands-on repair work, the Master Technician provides technical guidance, mentoring, and on-the-job training to less experienced technicians; assists with difficult or intermittent repair issues; and supports Fleet leadership by promoting best practices, consistency, and quality control within the shop. Employees in this position may be subject to on-call or callback during emergency situations or inclement weather. Work is performed under general supervision and requires a high degree of independent judgment, technical expertise, and problem-solving ability. This position reports to the Fleet Services Supervisor
