About The Role

We're looking for an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Coordinator to join our Finegand team in Balclutha.

This is a hands-on role where you'll be visible on site, building relationships, supporting our people, and driving positive health and safety outcomes. You'll lead all aspects of site health and safety, including incident investigations, administration of H&S systems, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Working closely with managers and employees, you'll help ensure compliance with legislative requirements while promoting wellbeing across the site.

Shift Pattern: This is a day shift role with some night shift requirement. Your hours will be Mon-Fri 8.30-5.30pm generally but there may be flexibility required between the hours of 8am-10pm for this role. We will give the appropriate notice to ensure you are aware of any shift pattern changes.

Te Mahi / Key Responsibilities

  • Lead safety initiatives - drive and implement health and safety programmes, projects, and continuous improvement activities across the site.
  • Champion compliance - ensure health and safety procedures meet legislative and company requirements.
  • Investigate and improve - coordinate incident investigations, reporting, and corrective actions to reduce risk and improve outcomes.
  • Support and influence - provide practical health and safety guidance while building strong relationships across all levels of the business.
  • Promote wellbeing - support initiatives that contribute to a safe, healthy, and engaged workforce.
  • Monitor and report - maintain health and safety records, systems, and reporting requirements.

You'll bring

  • A genuine passion for creating healthy and safe environments for people.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office, databases, and digital systems.
  • The ability to think on your feet, work independently, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • A Level 4 Health & Safety qualification, or a willingness to work towards one.
  • The confidence to influence, coach, and build positive working relationships across the business.
