Located in Shiprock, New Mexico, this 60-bed Indian Health Service hospital serves an all-age patient population in a rural setting that operates much like a Critical Access Hospital. Physicians here have the opportunity to practice broad-spectrum inpatient medicine while becoming an important part of the care team serving the Navajo Nation. Needing Experienced Hospitalist Physicians ( MD or DO ) for a long term IHS contract.   • Hospitalist/Nocturnist position
  • 12-hour night shifts
  • Inpatient Hospital Medicine setting

What You'll Do

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient medical care during 12-hour overnight shifts
  • Evaluate and manage hospitalized patients across an all-age patient population
  • Perform admissions, inpatient evaluations, and ongoing management of acute and chronic medical conditions
  • Respond to overnight clinical changes and medical emergencies
  • Develop and implement appropriate treatment plans
  • Order, interpret, and respond to laboratory, imaging, and other diagnostic results
  • Coordinate care with nursing staff, specialists, emergency department providers, and other members of the healthcare team
  • Provide appropriate stabilization and management of patients requiring higher levels of care or transfer
  • Participate in patient discharge planning and transitions of care as applicable
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete medical documentation within the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary care teams
  • Practice in accordance with facility policies, applicable regulations, and IHS requirements

Requirements

  • Strong clinical, diagnostic, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work in high-stress, fast-paced environments
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
  • Must be a U.S. citizen residing primarily in the United States

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
  • Active, unrestricted U.S. medical license
  • Current DEA registration
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of recent inpatient Hospitalist experience required
  • Previous Nocturnist experience strongly preferred
  • Experience managing adult and pediatric inpatient populations independently
  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to manage high-acuity patients
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems
  • Previous Indian Health Service (IHS), Tribal Health, Rural Health, or Critical Access Hospital experience preferred
  • Must be a U.S. citizen living and working primarily within the United States
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Federal Security Clearance
  • Immunization records required
