About The Role

JAS is an international, non-asset-based supply chain services and solutions company. Our services include air and ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics, customs brokerage, distribution, inbound logistics, truckload brokerage and other supply chain management services, including consulting, the coordination of purchase orders and customized management services.

The Ship’s Agent acts as the primary liaison between the vessel, port authorities, and service providers to ensure smooth and efficient port calls. This role manages all operational, logistical, and administrative tasks related to the arrival, stay, and departure of ships, ensuring compliance with regulations and delivering exceptional customer service to ship owners and operators.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Coordinate vessel arrivals and departures, including berth arrangements and scheduling.
  • Handle all documentation required for customs, immigration and port authorities.
  • Arrange service for the vessel, such as bunkering, provisions, repairs, and crew changes.
  • Communicate with ship owners, captains and port stakeholders to provide updates and resolve issues.
  • Ensure compliance with local, national, and internation maritime regulations.
  • Manage financial transactions, including invoicing and payment for port services.
  • Respond to emergencies or unexpected situations promptly and effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of all activities and documentation for audit and reporting purposes.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Knowledge of maritime regulations and port procedures.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and shipping management software.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent; degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, or related field preferred.
  • 2-3 years in shipping, port operations, or maritime logistics.
