Accountabilities

  • Design, implement, test, and document reliable software using modern web technologies and/or Flutter.
  • Build intuitive, performant, and accessible user interfaces that provide a high-quality experience across diverse layouts and use cases.
  • Develop and maintain frontend solutions using JavaScript, TypeScript, React, CSS, and Flutter.
  • Debug, investigate, and resolve issues encountered by users while maintaining software reliability and quality.
  • Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and broader engineering processes to maintain high technical standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers and the open-source community on technical specifications, frontend frameworks, and shared engineering initiatives.
  • Contribute to technical documentation and help establish clear, useful resources for developers and users.
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering, development, deployment, and operational practices.
  • Deploy and operate services developed by the team, contributing to their reliability and performance at scale.
  • Provide technical advocacy and contribute ideas that support the continued success and evolution of products.
  • Contribute to REST API design, development, and governance where relevant to frontend applications.
  • Support the development of open-source tooling and frameworks that enable consistent, performant, and accessible interfaces.

Requirements

  • Exceptional academic performance, with a strong track record in secondary and higher education.
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a compelling alternative background demonstrating equivalent technical capability.
  • Professional experience designing and developing high-quality web technologies.
  • Strong experience with and enthusiasm for JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and/or Flutter.
  • Strong understanding of frontend engineering principles, with particular attention to accessibility, performance, usability, and responsive design.
  • Experience developing production-quality software with an emphasis on maintainability, testing, and reliability.
  • Experience working with Linux environments, with Debian or Ubuntu experience being particularly valuable.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, curiosity, flexibility, accountability, and a self-starting approach to work.
  • Ability to organize work effectively, meet commitments, and deliver high-quality results on schedule.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, with strong communication and presentation abilities.
  • Professional and collaborative approach when working with colleagues, technical partners, and open-source communities.
  • Passion for technology, innovation, open source, and continuously improving engineering practices.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally approximately twice per year for team events lasting up to two weeks.
  • Experience with containers such as LXD, Docker, or Kubernetes is a plus.
  • Knowledge of REST API design, performance engineering, security, and user-centric UI development is advantageous.
