About The Role

  • Participate in and successfully complete mechanic shop training courses provided by the Company.
  • Apply basic welding skills in support of maintenance and repair activities.
  • Assist tradesman with railway equipment repair or inspections, servicing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Prepare tools, equipment, and work areas for maintenance activities.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Follow all Company safety policies, procedures, and railway regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification

  • Previous railroad experience.
  • Completion of basic welding training.
  • Ability and willingness to complete Company-provided training programs.
  • Mechanical aptitude and interest in rolling stock maintenance.
  • Ability to work safely in an industrial environment.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Excellent communications skills and,
  • Passion to get the work done in an efficient and safe manner that meets organization and customer standards.

Additional Information/Preferred Candidate

  • This is a safety-sensitive position.
  • Work is performed in a locomotive shop and rail yard environment.
  • May require working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
  • Self-motivated, self-starting individual preferred.
  • Demonstrated willingness to be a safety leader and lead compliance with safety regulations.
  • Problem-solver, analytical skills and initiative being able to forecast repair requirements.
