SUMMARY

The Utility Specialist is subject matter expert in utility invoice data analysis and reporting. This includes usage analysis, spend and variance reporting, rates analysis, GHG emissions calculations, etc.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting & Analysis

  • Fulfills client reporting contractual obligations and client service requests
  • Works with client accounts to understand utility reporting requirements,
  • Reviews, develops and implements improvements to reporting and analytical processes
  • Oversees utility budgeting, forecasting and accruals reporting delivered to client accounts
  • Develops energy analysis tools and processes for use by energy managers and energy analysts.

Energy & Sustainability

  • Executes analysis to identify energy outliers or anomalies as well as efficiency optimization opportunities.
  • Performs regression analysis of utility data with weather data as well as other variables using industry software such as RETScreen Expert
  • Performs the measurement and verification (M&V) to validate savings from energy efficiency programs
  • Develops analysis and reporting tools for Sustainability matrices including Greenhouse Gas Emissions, Water and Waste
  • Maintains knowledge of utility market rates and cost drivers. Able to provide an outlook on the major utility markets for use in utility budgets and forecasts.

Product Development

  • Develop utility analysis and reporting services and products that deliver value to BGIS’ accounts and clients. These value-add services shall build upon the knowledge and data within the BGIS information systems and within the industry
  • Responsible to liaise with other BGIS groups delivering Utility Analysis and Reporting (RP1, US, APAC) to understand the products being deliverable and evaluate the applicability to this client groups

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • University degree in engineering, or similar applicable program
  • 2 to 7 years of reporting and analysis work experience
  • Expertise in energy analysis and utility invoicing
  • Advanced analytical skills
  • Experience with Business Intelligence applications (Power BI)
  • Strong communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications along with ability to quickly learn proprietary information systems
  • Understanding of ISO9001 and ISO14001 standards
  • Project Management skills and experience

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation

  • Certified Measurement & Verification Professional from Association of Energy Engineers, an asset
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) from Association of Energy Engineers, an asset
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) an asset

This is a regular, full-time position with a salary range of $63,397 - $79,246 per annum. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate’s competencies, including but not limited to experience, education and performance related to this role.
