Head of Sales Trading - APAC

Location: Hong Kong Reports to: Global Head of Liquidity Licensing Requirement: SFC Type 1 Licensed Representative Role Overview We are seeking a high-caliber Head of Sales Trading - APAC to lead our OTC trading desk in Hong Kong. This role is designed for a dynamic practitioner who combines strong hands-on execution capability across traditional foreign exchange (G7 & SEA markets) with a desire to drive business growth and client engagement. You will lead, mentor, and scale a client-facing sales trading team (6–7 members), bridging traditional FX and payment liquidity with emerging digital asset/stablecoin solutions. Candidates with backgrounds in securities firms or payment institutions who thrive in external, client-facing environments are highly encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities Lead, build, and scale a high-performing OTC sales trading desk (growing to 6–7 direct reports down the line). Set desk performance targets, manage P&L, optimize trading strategies, and drive operational best practices. Work closely with internal stakeholders across Sales, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and Technology to streamline liquidity and trade lifecycle management. Provide hands-on execution and management of voice and electronic trades, focusing on G7 and emerging South East Asian (SEA) currency pairs. Maintain active client-facing exposure; partner closely with internal sales teams to pitch trade ideas, provide real-time market color, and onboard client flows. Strengthen relationships with institutional clients, corporates, and market counterparties to maximize flow and retention. Requirements 6 to 15 years of trading or sales trading experience within FX, securities firms, or payment companies. Active or recent SFC Type 1 Licensed Representative status in Hong Kong. Proven experience executing G7 currencies (Mandatory) and familiarity with key SEA currencies (e.g., HKD, IDR, PHP, VND). Proven team management experience (small team leadership experience is acceptable). Excellent stakeholder management and external client-facing skills; comfortable engaging directly with counterparties and collaborating closely with sales teams (pure traders must demonstrate strong commercial and communication skills). Native/Fluent communication skills in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. Preferred Qualifications (Good-to-Have) Experience with electronic FX (eFX) execution systems and platforms. Understanding of or passion for crypto assets, stablecoins, and digital asset markets. Exposure to cross-border payments, corporate FX, or payment rails.
