Sales Financial Accountant ROLE PROFILE GENERAL Date August 2026 Location Aggeneys, Northern Cape Operations BMC Shared Services Job Grade D2 (Paterson) / M6 (Vedanta) ROLE CONTEXT Vedanta Zinc International (VZI) operates in competitive global zinc and concentrate markets. Sales performance, pricing discipline, revenue assurance, freight management and market exposure directly influence profitability, cash flow and shareholder value. The Sales Financial Accountant (D2) acts as the key link between Finance, Sales & Marketing, Logistics, and Shared Services to ensure the integrity of revenue accounting, working capital management, and financial reporting and support Sales Financial Controller. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE To provide accurate accounting, financial control, revenue assurance, and reporting support across the sales value chain. The role is responsible for ensuring revenue transactions are recorded accurately, customer contracts are correctly reflected in financial records, month-end reporting is completed in a timely manner, and all sales-related accounting activities comply with IFRS, statutory requirements, and company policies. RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Revenue Accounting & Revenue Recognition · Account for all sales transactions accurately and completely in accordance with IFRS and company policies. · Ensure correct recording of revenue, freight recoveries, metal premiums, penalties, treatment charges, and commercial deductions. · Maintain accurate accounting for provisional and final pricing adjustments. · Support the application of IFRS 15 revenue recognition requirements. · Perform revenue cut-off procedures and ensure accurate period-end revenue reporting. · Review and validate customer invoices prior to accounting recognition. · Investigate and resolve revenue accounting discrepancies. 2. Business Partner / Customer Interface · Prepare and Review invoices, claims and cost allocations for accuracy. · Resolve financial discrepancies and ensure commercial alignment. · Interphase with customers for invoicing collection and issue resolution purposes. 3. Reconciliations & Balance Sheet Integrity Perform monthly reconciliations of all sales-related general ledger accounts. Prepare reconciliations for: o Trade receivables and collections o Revenue accounts, accrued income, Deferred revenue o Freight recoveries, Pricing adjustment accounts o Contract asset and liability accounts o Closing stocks Investigate reconciling items and ensure timely resolution. Maintain full supporting documentation for audit purposes. Perform monthly balance sheet substantiation and certification. 4. Month-End Reporting · Execute month-end sales accounting activities in accordance with reporting deadlines. · Prepare monthly revenue reports and analytical schedules as required by the business · Preparation of: o Management accounts (e.g, MIS) o Financial reporting packs o Revenue analysis o Customer profitability reporting o Sales volume reporting o Trade debtors collections · Provide commentary on revenue and margin variances. · Support quarterly and annual financial reporting requirements · Support ad-hoc reporting requirements 5. Journal Processing & General Ledger Management · Prepare and process monthly journals relating to revenue accounting. · Review and verify accounting entries affecting sales transactions. · Ensure journals comply with accounting standards and internal controls. · Support period-end accruals, provisions, and adjustments. · Maintain integrity of all sales-related general ledger accounts. · Ensure timely posting and review of month-end journals. 6. Commodity Pricing & Revenue Assurance Verify customer pricing calculations against contractual terms. Review: LME pricing references, Quotational periods (QP), Metal premiums Exchange rates Freight adjustments, Assay settlements Validate provisional and final pricing settlements. Identify and escalate pricing discrepancies and revenue leakage risks. Assist in maintaining pricing controls and revenue assurance processes. 7. Contract Accounting Support · Review key commercial contract terms impacting financial accounting. · Ensure accounting treatment aligns with contractual obligations. · Maintain contract accounting schedules and supporting documentation. · Monitor contractual pricing adjustments and settlement activity. · Support contract audits and compliance reviews. 8. Working Capital & Receivables Management Monitor customer accounts and trade receivables. Perform customer account reconciliations. Support collections and overdue debt management. Monitor: Debtor ageing Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) Credit exposure Cash collections performance Stock balances and Gross working capital days (Finished goods and trade debtors) Escalate collection risks and disputed balances. Support initiatives to improve cash flow and working capital performance. 9. Statutory Compliance, Controls & Audit Ensure compliance with: IFRS, Income. tax requirements, VAT legislation Transfer pricing requirements and Internal financial policies as well as Revenue control frameworks Maintain complete audit trails for all sales transactions. Support internal and external audit processes as appropriate Implement and maintain effective controls across the order-to-cash process. Ensure compliance with delegated authority and approval frameworks. 10. Systems, Data Integrity & Process Improvements Ensure accuracy of sales transaction data in ERP systems. Identify process improvement opportunities within the order-to-cash cycle. Support and Assist with automation and reporting enhancement initiatives. 11. Financial Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting Prepare sales budgets and forecasts (3 month rolling forecast / quarterly/ annual / 3 year budget). Analyse price curves, production forecasts, market conditions and sales orders. Track revenue performance vs budget and forecast; provide variance analysis and recommendations. 12. General and others Ability to Model revenue scenarios and pricing sensitivities to support strategic planning would be advantageous Assist with ad-hoc requests from Management to support strategic decision making 13. Safety, Health & Compliance Integration Ensure compliance with MHSA, Zero Harm and site safety requirements when engaging operational areas. Support investigations into commercial, quality or value ‑ related incidents where required. Promote disciplined and compliant commercial execution. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Qualifications · Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or equivalent. · CA(SA), CIMA, ACCA, SAIPA or similar professional qualification in progress or complete and a Postgraduate qualification in Finance or Accounting will be advantageous. · Valid driver’s licence and medical fitness.
