Chemical Engineer, Intern (Summer 2027)

The Opportunity

As a Polymers Chemical Engineering Intern , you will work closely with our engineering and maintenance teams to support projects and initiatives within MAPEI’s Operations, Maintenance, and Supply Chain functions. You will gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment while applying engineering principles to real-world projects. This experience may lead to future full-time engineering opportunities within corporate engineering or field operations.

• Perform engineering assignments using standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret relevant data and performance metrics.
• Document and maintain technical products and project data.
• Assist with preparing reports, presentations, and other project deliverables.
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, operations, and other cross-functional teams.

The Program Details

• Full-time schedule (40 hours per week)
• Internship duration: May–August 2027 (12 weeks)
• Practical, hands-on learning at MAPEI’s West Chicago manufacturing facility
• Host location: West Chicago, IL

What you bring

• Actively pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree in Chemical

Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related technical field (juniors and seniors preferred)

• Strong communication skills

• Strong motivation to learn and succeed
• Willingness to travel
