Program Overview The Pediatric Residency Program at Sidra Medicine is a prestigious and comprehensive training program for aspiring pediatricians focusing on providing exceptional patient-centered care. The program offers a wide range of clinical rotations in various pediatric specialties under the guidance of experienced faculty members to equip residents with the skills and knowledge necessary to become skilled pediatric practitioners capable of providing excellent care to infants, children, and adolescents. Goals and Objectives Comprehensive training and education in all aspects of pediatric medicine. Develop clinical competencies and skills in diagnosis and treatment. Enhance knowledge of pediatric diseases and treatment options. Foster the ability to develop appropriate management plans for pediatric patients. Promote understanding of social, cultural, and emotional factors impacting patients and families. Train in effective communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Develop research skills and critical appraisal of medical literature. Foster professional development and ethical practices in pediatric medicine. Clinical Training and Key Rotations The Pediatric Residency program is a 4-year ACGMEI-accredited program leading to Arab and Qatari Board certification. The program consists of 13 blocks per academic year, one of which is a vacation block; each lasts for 28 days. First Year Second Year 5 general pediatric blocks 3 emergency medicine blocks 1 neurology block 1 well baby/Neonatology block 1 developmental block 1 community medicine block 4 general pediatric blocks 1 general admitting block 1 emergency medicine block 2 Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) blocks 1 neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) block 1 gastroenterology block 1 pulmonology block 1 research block Third Year Fourth Year 3 general pediatric blocks 1 general admitting block 1 emergency medicine block 1 PICU block 1 NICU block 1 cardiology block 1 nephrology block 1 infectious diseases block 2 elective blocks 1 general pediatric/admitting block 1 PICU block 1 NICU block 1 emergency medicine block 1 endocrine block 1 hematology/oncology block 1 adolescent medicine block 4 elective blocks 1 research block Entry Requirements To be eligible to apply for the Pediatric Residency training program, applicants must meet the following criteria: Graduated no more than 5 years from the application date (2021 onwards). Meet the minimum accepted clinical and English Exams scores. Mandatory Clinical Examinations (one of the following) Exam Required Score USMLE Step 2 CK 214 IFOM CSE 74 MCCQE Pass Mandatory English Language Examinations (one of the following) Exam Required Score TOEFL PBT 50 TOEFL iBT 87 IELTS Academic 7.0 OET Medical 350 (Average of all sets) Refundable application fee of $750 Fees to pay by the external candidates who are offered and accept a position in the Residency or the fellowship Program will be required to pay a refundable application fee of USD 750. This fee will be fully refunded upon your successful onboarding and commencement of the Residency or the fellowship Program at Sidra Medicine. **If you choose to withdraw from the program after accepting the offer and before commencing the Residency or the fellowship Program, the application fee will not be refunded.
