About The Role

About ASI

Adam Smith International (ASI) is a global advisory company that works locally to transform lives by making economies stronger, societies more stable, and governments more effective. We work on behalf of governments, foundations and companies that share our ambition to tackle some of the world's most pressing development challenges. Our work is grounded in deep country experience and strong partnerships with governments, donors and the private sector.

Over the past three decades, ASI has delivered high-quality, impactful and innovative programmes that support inclusive and sustainable growth. We aim to help countries unlock economic opportunities, strengthen markets and institutions, and improve livelihoods at scale. We deliver a diverse global portfolio spanning economic policy and governance, public financial management, private sector development, trade and investment, infrastructure and climate-resilient growth. Our support ranges from strategy and analysis to long-term technical assistance and programme delivery.

Boost Africa Technical Assistance Programme

ASI recently implemented the Boost Africa Technical Assistance Facility, an EU-funded programme delivered on behalf of the European Investment Bank (EIB) to strengthen entrepreneurship and innovation across Sub-Saharan Africa by pairing early-stage venture capital with targeted skills development. The facility provided grant-funded technical assistance to fund managers and their portfolio SMEs and mid-caps, helping to strengthen investment readiness, fund management capacity, enterprise growth capabilities and local business advisory ecosystems.

About the Boost Venture in Africa (BVA) Programme

The Boost Venture in Africa (BVA) Programme builds on the recently concluded Boost Africa Technical Assistance Facility. It is designed to address market failures in Africa's venture capital ecosystem by increasing the availability of finance for venture capital and innovative impact funds. It will support the establishment and growth of investment funds and help high-potential businesses progress from early-stage development to maturity.

The programme will strengthen the organisational, managerial and operational capacity of fund managers, enhance the technical and business capabilities of investee companies, and promote knowledge sharing and collaboration across the wider investment ecosystem

Call for Experts

We are seeking highly qualified Key Experts (KEs) and Non-Key Experts (NKEs) for potential long- and short-term assignments under the anticipated Boost Venture in Africa (BVA) programme with a Pan African focus.

We are particularly interested in experts with hands-on experience supporting venture capital and private equity fund managers, and growth-oriented start-ups and SMEs across Africa. We welcome applications from candidates who have worked directly with investment funds, portfolio companies, accelerators, venture builders, ecosystem support organisations, and high-growth businesses across Africa.
