ABOUT THE ROLE The Supportive Housing Program provides community-based services and supports designed to assist individuals who are Deaf, Blind, DeafBlind, and/or have other exceptionalities in living as independently as possible. Services are provided in a variety of community living settings, including a collaborative housing initiative with the Presbyterian Home for Children Inc. The program promotes independence, choice, self-determination, and successful community living through individualized support in areas such as home management, money management, independent living skills, and community integration. The Residential Manager serves as a primary point of contact for individuals participating in the program and provides and coordinates support services based on each individual’s needs and goals. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or GED from an accredited school or program. Minimum of one (1) year of experience working directly with individuals in an educational or residential program. Ability to pass suitability requirements for employment PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Education, Rehabilitation, Social Work, or a closely related field. Experience performing independent living skills assessments. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Resident Care & Rehabilitation Support Core Support Services: Provide rehabilitation support services in independent living, home management, money management, and self-determination. Primary Contact: Serve as the primary point of contact for residents enrolled in the Supportive Housing Program. Community Engagement: Assist in planning and participate in regional center activities, including White Cane Day, Deaf Awareness, educational workshops, social/community events, and statewide programs. Independent Living: Demonstrated knowledge of independent living programs and means by which residential elements are integrated into core curriculum components. Safety & Facility Operations Security Oversight: Assist with safety and security management through precautionary actions, routine inspections, emergency drills, and safety trainings. Emergency Response: Be on-call to assist with residential and consumer emergencies. Physical & Scheduling Requirements Overnight & Flexible Hours: Stay overnight as needed and maintain a flexible schedule primarily covering second shift (1:30 PM – 10:00 PM), nights, and weekend hours as assigned by the Regional Director or her designee. Physical Assistance: Must be able to physically assist with the physical needs of assigned wheelchair or physically disadvantaged consumers as their needs dictate. Lifting Capability: Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds frequently during work shifts and lift more than fifty pounds with assistance or use of an assistive device. Professional Development and Certifications Sign Language Proficiency: Achieve SURVIVAL level sign language proficiency within 12 months and INTERMEDIATE level within 30 months of employment. Braille Competency: Pass a Braille proficiency test with a score of at least 80 percent within the first 30 months of employment. Safety Certifications: Complete CPR/First Aid and Behavior Management (CPI) / Managing Crisis Safely (MCS) classes within 12 months of employment and maintain active certifications. Specialized Training: Complete Orientation to Blindness within the first 12 months of employment. Upon offer of employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB.
