- Reports directly to: Business Office Manager, Clinical Services Administrator
- Schedule: Part-Time on Weeknights (4:30pm-7pm) and Weekends (9am-5:30pm)
- Pay: Starting at $16.50 per hour.
SUMMARY
The Receptionist serves as the face of Woonsocket Health & Rehabilitation Centre. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for our residents, their families, and visiting healthcare professionals. The ideal candidate will possess excellent customer service skills, a compassionate demeanor, and the ability to manage a busy front desk while maintaining a secure and welcoming environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
First Impressions: Greet and welcome residents, family members, vendors, and visitors with a friendly and professional demeanor.
Access & Security: Monitor the front entrance, ensuring all visitors sign in and out properly. Enforce facility visiting hours and current health screening protocols (e.g., temperature checks, mask requirements) as needed.
Communications: Manage a multi-line telephone system. Answer, screen, and route outside calls to the appropriate departments or on-call staff, and take detailed messages when necessary.
Resident Support: Assist residents who come to the front desk with basic requests or direct them to the appropriate nursing staff.
Administrative Support: Perform light clerical duties such as sorting mail, data entry, filing, preparing admission packets, and managing front-office supplies.
Emergency Response: Remain calm and follow established facility protocols during emergency codes, including directing emergency medical services (EMS) to the correct location within the building.
Confidentiality: Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding resident health information and privacy.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: 1+ years of experience in a receptionist, administrative, or customer service role. Previous experience in a healthcare, hospital, or skilled nursing setting is highly preferred.
Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a clear, professional telephone voice.
Technical Skills: Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the ability to quickly learn facility-specific software or electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Soft Skills: High level of empathy, patience, and professionalism when interacting with elderly residents and family members who may be under stress.
Reliability: Strong track record of punctuality and attendance, as this role is critical to the facility's weekend and after-hours operations.
