Sr. Associate - New Verticals, Agentic AI (NY)
lavendo · New York
About The Role
Lavendo partners with startups and high‑growth companies to help them hire top‑tier sales, GTM, and technical talent. This role is with one of our clients; we’ll share full details about the company and interview process as we get to know you and confirm mutual fit.About the CompanyOur client is a Series E, agentic AI company that just raised $250M led by Andreessen Horowitz — with Sapphire Ventures and Bessemer Venture Partners also on the cap table — bringing total funding to $390M+. Founded in 2017, the company has grown to 500+ employees by building AI agents that plug directly into the workflows housing and healthcare teams already use: touring, leasing, maintenance requests, resident communication, appointment scheduling, intake forms, and provider communication. The core business has real revenue and real customers. Now it's expanding into entirely new markets, and this role sits at the center of that expansion. The MissionThe company's founding mission is to fix housing and healthcare with agentic AI — replacing manual, repetitive work with intelligent automation so residents, patients, providers, and staff get their time back. This role extends that same builder mentality into new markets: Payments, Accounting, and Insurance. The OpportunityThis is a zero-to-one role, full stop. You'll identify, launch, and scale a brand-new product line in a regulated vertical — Payments, Accounting, or Insurance — that doesn't exist at the company yet. You're not maintaining a roadmap someone else built; you're writing it.Think of yourself as a mini-GM: you own the P&L logic of your vertical end-to-end, from the first customer conversation through implementation and hand-off to the permanent team. You'll work directly with customers from week one, report into a hiring manager who's building this function from scratch alongside you, and operate with real autonomy — no committee sign-off, no waiting for permission to move.If you're an ex-consultant tired of advising instead of building, or a founder-type who wants unicorn-scale resources behind your next 0-to-1, this is that seat. What You'll DoOwn a product vertical end-to-end — customer acquisition, sales demos, implementation, and the processes that make it repeatableGet in front of customers yourself. Sell it, implement it, support it — you're the face of this product until it's mature enough to hand offBuild the playbook as you go: pricing, positioning, segmentation, and launch sequencing, based on real customer signal, not theoryBuild the internal muscle — processes and documentation that let Product, Engineering, GTM, and Customer Success take the vertical over as it scalesInfluence engineers, salespeople, and CS leads who don't report to you. You'll need the credibility and EQ to get people moving in the same direction without a title to back you upShow your work: track the specific numbers — customer acquisition, revenue, operational impact — that prove the vertical is workingWhat You BringMBB consulting background or startup/founder experience (Seed–Series C) — you've worn multiple hats across sales, implementation, and strategyA 0-to-1 launch on your resume, specifically in Payments (payment processing, AP/AR), Accounting (CPA), or Insurance. General 0-to-1 experience outside these verticals won't clear this barA GTM strategy you built and ran yourself — segmentation, pricing, positioning, launchComfort running sales demos, onboarding/implementation, and ongoing supportA track record of getting engineers, sales, and CS aligned without formal authorityB2B SaaS or enterprise experience. Consumer-only backgrounds are a weaker match for this oneAbility to be in the NYC office 4–5 days a week, with travel as the role demandsNice-to-have:P&L ownership or M&A/diligence experience across multiple concurrent workstreams — banking, PE/VC, and corp dev backgrounds count here tooA degree from a top-tier university; an MBA or MBB pedigree helps, but a strong founder or operator track record matters moreEnough technical fluency to demo a product credibly and hold your own with engineering on spec conversations — you don't need to build it, just understand itKey Success DriversTake accountability when something breaks — you don't wait for someone else to own the fixStay in the weeds. This isn't a "set strategy and hand it off" seat — you're doing the customer calls, the implementation, the process-building yourselfBuild trust across functions. People move for you because they trust your judgment, not because they have toMove with incomplete information.
