Staff Accountant

About The Role
FiberLight, LLC is seeking a Staff Accountant to support corporate accounting for a multi-state fiber networking company backed by a global private equity firm. This role offers the opportunity to gain broad exposure across multiple accounting functions, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to a dynamic, growth-oriented organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with month-end close activities and financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
- Support accounting activities in key areas, including:
- Revenue recognition accounting (subscription, construction, and deferred revenue)
- Construction and project accounting
- Lease accounting and recordkeeping
- Debt accounting
- Operating expense accounting, including commissions and other compensation-related accruals
- Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documentation.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
- Assist with internal and external audits and help maintain internal control documentation.
- Partner with FP&A, IT, and operations teams to complete assigned responsibilities and identify process improvements.
- Support special projects and other accounting initiatives as business needs evolve.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of accounting experience.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting systems.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA certification or progress toward obtaining CPA designation.
- Exposure to ASC 606 and ASC 842 concepts.
- Public accounting, audit, or corporate accounting experience.
- Experience with NetSuite and/or Salesforce.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects, work independently, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
