About The Role
Position Description: The candidate for this position must demonstrate a proactive, strategic, and results-oriented work ethic, possess exceptional communication, writing, and analytical skills, and have a deep understanding of the interaction between businesses and government. The candidate will support the team in driving government affairs projects, managing external relations, and advancing the firm's strategic objectives. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities: 1. External Liaison and Government Relations Proactively establish and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with government ministries, commissions, and public institutions at both the national and local levels. Serve as the primary external representative for the Government Affairs team, conducting frequent on-site visits, attending official events, and representing the firm in relevant meetings. Identify and pursue strategic cooperation opportunities with government agencies, ensuring the firm maintains a favorable and prioritized position in policy discussions and regulatory developments. Facilitate smooth communication between the firm and government stakeholders. 2. Government Reception and Protocol Prepare for and execute receptions for government visits, meetings, and delegations, including agenda coordination, preparation of briefing materials, and on-site protocol reception. Ensure all reception activities are conducted with the highest level of professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and diplomatic finesse. 3. Government Event Support Assist the team in organizing and executing government-hosted events, forums, and public sector engagement programs to enhance the firm's visibility and reputation. Coordinate with internal teams to ensure seamless event execution and alignment with strategic objectives. 4. Policy Monitoring and Analysis Track, analyze, and interpret legislative, regulatory, and policy developments at both the national and local levels; assess their potential impact on the firm's business operations and strategic goals. Provide timely, actionable recommendations to senior leadership to support decision-making and risk mitigation. 5. Administrative and Project Support Maintain stakeholder databases, track engagement activities, and manage the Government Affairs team's schedule. Support government affairs projects as directed by the team lead, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality outcomes. ________________________________________ Qualifications: Education Background Bachelor's degree or above in Political Science, Public Policy, International Relations, Diplomacy, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred. Work Experience At least 6-8 years of work experience in government affairs, public policy, public sector, or a related field. Experience working within Chinese government departments or public institutions is preferred. Language Proficiency Native-level proficiency in Chinese; proficient in English (both written and verbal), capable of handling client communication, internal reporting, and cross-cultural exchanges. Communication and Writing Skills Possess official document writing and presentation skills, capable of drafting high-quality government-style documents, including official correspondence, policy briefs, talking points, and formal reports. Understand China's business and government environment; able to synthesize complex information into clear, strategic communications. Strategic and Analytical Skills Possess solid research and analytical abilities, capable of monitoring policy trends, assessing risks and opportunities, and providing forward-looking recommendations. Able to think strategically and align government affairs projects with the firm's long-term objectives. Project Coordination and Organizational Skills Possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrate the ability to lead cross-functional projects and coordinate with multiple stakeholders. Technical Skills Proficient in PowerPoint, Word, and Excel, capable of creating presentations, analytical reports, and tracking documents. Professional Integrity and Image High level of integrity, capable of handling sensitive information with confidentiality and compliance. Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism in interactions with government entities and businesses at all levels. Possess a professional appearance and demeanor. Teamwork and Interpersonal Skills Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills, proactive, and capable of collaborating effectively in cross-functional and cross-cultural environments. Proactive, adaptable, and resilient in a dynamic environment. ________________________________________ Additional Requirements: Willingness and ability to travel for external liaison and government meetings. Possession of an extensive network within government circles is preferred. Ability to work independently and proactively take ownership of key projects.
