About The Role

DescriptionJob Description: Designated evaluator for Kentucky Early Intervention System (First Steps) serving the Buffalo Trace district

Role and Responsibilities

  • Review, synthesize, and enter health records on each child in the program.
  • Ensure each child has the necessary components to move forward with evaluation.
  • Complete a minimum of 20% of primary level evaluations (PLEs) and 100% of five-area assessments (5AAs) for the district each year.
  • Determine initial program eligibility on each child assessed or evaluated.
  • Complete screenings for children as needed and/or requested by parents/caregivers including hearing screens and screening for Autism Spectrum Disorders.
  • Conduct or ensure regular reviews of PLE and 5AA reports completed by contracted providers.
  • Provide consultation and technical assistance to contracted providers around training, evaluations, assessments, and reports as needed and/or requested.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Minimum entry level qualification established by the funding source is

Minimum highest entry-level requirements for one of the following approved professions: Audiologist; Developmental Interventionist; Dietician; LMFT; LPCC; Licensed Psychologist; Certified Psychologist with autonomous functioning; Licensed Psychological Practitioner; Certified Psychologist; Licensed Psychological Associate; Nurse; Occupational Therapist; Ophthalmologist; Optometrist; Orientation and Mobility Specialist; Physical Therapist; Physician; Sign Language and Cued Language Specialist; Social Worker; Speech Language Pathologist (or interim licensed); Teacher of Deaf and Hard of Hearing; Teacher of Visually Impaired

Minimum of two years of experience working directly with young children ages birth through two years of age, including children with disabilities or atypical development

One year of experience in using standardized instruments and procedures to evaluate infants and toddlers birth to three completed as part of formal training or in supervised practice

First Steps experience preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to set up information tables at community events which may entail some light lifting
  • Ability to visit individuals in their own homes as needed which may or may not be easily accessible

Special Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license with dependable transportation
  • Flexible work schedule with some evening and/or weekend hours required
