Grants Director

DescriptionJob Purpose

• The Grants Director manages grants personnel and departmental operations while exercising independent judgment in establishing priorities, recommending funding strategies, and implementing process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute grant funding strategies to support the organization's mission and objectives.
• Identify new funding opportunities and cultivate relationships with potential funders.
• Strengthen existing funder relationships to ensure continued support and collaboration.
• Direct the overall performance of the Grants Office, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
• Manage grants personnel, providing guidance and support to enhance team performance.
• Utilize database management systems or comparable electronic grants management systems to track and manage grant activities.
• Implement process improvements to optimize grant management and reporting.
• Collaborate with other departments to align grant strategies with organizational goals and initiatives.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders to promote the agency's mission and funding needs.
• Stay informed on industry trends and best practices in grants management and philanthropy.

QualificationsRequired Education

• Bachelor’s degree required

Required Experience

• Minimum of seven years’ work experience in philanthropy or in the nonprofit sector in a grant writing capacity
• Demonstrated experience in database management systems or comparable electronic grants management systems

Required Skills and Abilities

• Strong knowledge of computer applications, including MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, including chart preparation
• Effective Internet search skills
• Ability to learn new programs and software

Preferred Skills and Abilities

• Ability to understand and effectively communicate LIFECARE ALLIANCE’s mission
• Familiarity with community health and/or gerontology
